"Fellowship will be a church that preaches the whole truth of God’s Word whatever the cost."
OUR CORE VALUES
We believe that the Bible is the Word of God and through faithful teaching and accurate application has the power to transform lives forever. In all things, we seek to find the balance of being Bible-based while culturally relevant.
We believe that prayer is built on our relationship with our God who is the source of everything. Therefore, by intentional prayer and praise we will trust Him to accomplish His will for our church, our community, and our nation.
We believe that lost people matter to God, and therefore, ought to matter to the church. We make it our goal to develop meaningful friendships with our neighbors and others in our circle of influence so that we might earn the opportunity of sharing Christ with them.
We believe grace is the only basis for our acceptance with Christ and that Christians should demonstrate a spirit of grace towards one another and the world. Rather than trying to motivate people through guilt, we will seek to encourage them through an attitude of love and gratefulness to God.
We believe spiritual growth begins with understanding who we are in Christ and what is ours to enjoy as a result of His sacrifice on the cross. This positive self-image is not based on who we are or what we have done, but on what Christ has done for us.
We believe spiritual maturity and Christlikeness is God’s goal for all of His children and should be our goal too. Since every Christ-follower is responsible for his or her own spiritual growth, we will provide guidance, resources, and motivation to help Christians become fully mature.
We believe all Christ-followers have been uniquely gifted for ministry and only through using these gifts and talents for God’s glory do we find significance and purpose. At Fellowship Forney, every member is a minister.
We believe that building successful marriages and strong families is fundamental to fulfilling our God-given mission and impacting our ministry area. Children’s ministry, Student ministry, and ministry devoted to enriching marriages and strengthening families will always be a priority.
We believe that genuine fellowship, Christian community, and biblical accountability can only be experienced in a small group environment. Therefore, we will provide a variety of opportunities for people to connect on a deeper level and fulfill the commandments of the New Testament.
We believe that God has called us to be “salt and light” and to penetrate each neighborhood and community we serve with the Gospel of Christ. Through neighborhood home groups, community involvement, and an outward focus we desire to be known as “the church next door.”
We exist to attract and win people to faith in Jesus Christ, encouraging them to meaningful worship and godly character, and equipping them to do the work God has called them to.
WHAT WE BELIEVE
Every word in the original writings of the Holy Scriptures in both the Old and New Testaments is inspired by God, without error, and of supreme authority in all matters of faith and life.
(II Timothy 3:16; II Peter 1:21)
We believe the approach to interpreting the Scriptures is the literal, grammatical, historical approach.
The Godhead exists eternally in three Persons, the Father, the Son, and the Holy Spirit; and these three are one God.
(Deuteronomy 6:4; Psalm 90:2; Matthew 28:19; John 1:1-3, John 8:58, John 10:30; Acts 5:3-4; II Corinthians 13:14)
The eternal Son of God became incarnate in the Lord Jesus Christ, being born of the virgin Mary, and is true God and true man.
(John 1:1, John 1:14, John 1:18, John 5:18; Philippians 2:6-11; Colossians 1:19; 2:9; I Timothy 2:5; Hebrews 1:1-9; I John 5:20)
The Holy Spirit is the Third Person of the Godhead, who regenerates, indwells, baptizes, and seals all believers in Christ, and fills those yielded to God.
(Acts 5:3-4; Matthew 28:19; John 3:3-7; Romans 8:9; I Corinthians 2:12; I Corinthians 6:19; I Corinthians 12:13; Ephesians 1:13; Ephesians 4:30; Ephesians 5:18)
Man was created in the image and likeness of God, but in Adam, all mankind fell into sin with the result that all men are sinners, hopelessly sinful in themselves, apart from the grace of God.
(Genesis 1:27; Genesis 9:6; Romans 3:23; Romans 5:12; Romans 8:6-7; Ephesians 2:1-3)
Salvation is received by faith alone in Christ, who died as a substitutionary sacrifice for our sins according to the Scriptures and rose again. All who believe in Him are justified on the basis of His shed blood and receive the gift of eternal life. This is the message of the Gospel.
(Acts 4:12; Acts 16:31; I Corinthians 15:1-4; Ephesians 2:8-9; John 1:12; John 3:16; Romans 5:1)
All who are born of the Spirit through faith in Christ can have the assurance of salvation and are eternally secure in Christ.
(John 10:27-29; Romans 8:1; Ephesians 1:13-14; John 5:24; II Timothy 1:12; I John 5:11-13)
The Scriptural ordinances of Baptism and the Lord’s Supper are for all believers in Christ. (Matthew 28:19-20; Acts 8:12, Acts 8:36-38; I Corinthians 11:23-26)
Satan is one of several names given in the Bible for the personal being who is the source of all evil. The Bible pictures him as “your adversary the devil,” a roaring lion, walking about, seeking whom he may devour. (1 Peter 5:8) As the slanderer, the devil slanders God to man (Genesis 3:1-5) and man to God. (Job 1:9) As the adversary, he successfully tempts man to rebel against God. Satan is a power second only to God but is subject to God. (Job 1:6) He was created by God and will one day be cast into the lake of fire. (Revelation 20:10)
The Scriptures teach that Jesus Christ rose from the dead in His glorified body and all that put their trust in Him will be raised bodily to live with Him forever in His Kingdom. The Bible speaks of the resurrection of the Just and the Unjust. The Just will be raised to live with Christ, and the Unjust will be raised to live in Hell.
(1 Corinthians 15, 1 John 3:2, 1 Thessalonians 4:1-18, Revelation 20:14-15)
The Bible calls out that marriage involves the union of one man and one woman in permanent sacred fidelity. God alone is the ultimate authority to prescribe and describe the marital relationship.
(Genesis 2:24, Matthew 19:1-9, Mark 10:1-12)
Sexual intimacy is only properly exercised and pursued within the confines of marriage. Sexual immorality, defined as any sexual activity outside the boundaries of the marriage of one man to one woman, is prohibited by God.
(Matthew 15:19, 1 Corinthians 6:9-11, 1 Thessalonians 4:3)
The Church regards any and all forms of sexual immorality, including adultery, fornication, homosexual behavior, bisexual behavior, bestiality, incest, pornography or lustful intent towards such, to be sinful. The Church holds that sexual identity is to be biologically determined at birth.
(Genesis 1:27, Romans 1: 26-32, 1 Corinthians 6:9-11)
In order to preserve the function, integrity, and witness of the Church, it is imperative that all persons employed by the Church or united to the Church in membership should abide by and agree to this “Statement of Marriage and Sexuality” and conduct themselves accordingly. The Gospel provides for redemption and restoration to all who confess and forsake their sin and seek forgiveness through Jesus Christ.
(1 Corinthians 6:9-11, Ephesians 2:1-10, Titus 3:3-7)
As a church desiring to follow and obey Jesus Christ fully, the Church will be a safe place for men and women fighting sexual temptations of all kinds. The Church will provide love, care, and direction to those dealing with sexual temptations.
(1 Corinthians 6:9-11, Ephesians 2:1-10, Titus 3:3-7)
This “Statement on Marriage and Sexuality” does not condone bigotry, bullying, or hate. We fully believe that every person must be afforded compassion, love, respect, and dignity, regardless of their lifestyle. Hateful and harassing attitudes toward any individual are sinful and are not in accordance with Scripture or Church doctrine.
