Clear and Simple| Romans 1:18-24

1. Why do you think God’s wrath/anger is such a difficult topic to discuss? What does this say about the condition of our hearts?

2. When you consider God’s anger towards sin in your life, does it tend to draw you into repentance, or does it push you away? What do you think God revealing His anger towards sin is meant to do in our lives?

3. Read Galatians 5: 1. This morning, we said, ‘Many of us are treading in water Jesus is calling us to walk on.’ What do you think that means? What has Christ ‘set us free’ from?

4. At the same time God has revealed His anger towards sin, He has revealed His desire to redeem us and draw us out. Read Romans 2: 4. How can God be both angry and redemptive at the same time? What happens when we only focus on one side of His character?

5. This morning, we said, ‘God will let you walk away.’ As you read Romans 1: 24, what do you think it means that ‘God gave them up in the lusts of their hearts?’ Why do you think God allows us the freedom to walk away from Him?

6. Today we said, ‘God will let you experience the built-in negative consequences of living independent of Him.’ How do we know when God is providing consequences for sin? What is God’s intention in discipline?

7. Today’s verses teach us about God’s love for us, His hatred of our sins, and His gift of freedom to His people. What sticks out most in these verses to you?
